Dolls' Houses Past & Present

About Me

"Father Christmas" brought me this house when I was 6. I am now 66 and just as hooked on dolls houses and miniatures as I was then. I have about 20 houses and they are all in different stages - some almost done, others in desperate need of TLC The oldest is a  tiny blue roof Gottschalk, the newest one a 1973 Lundby. I love them all, and I am thrilled to find this site, and so many other enthusiasts. I am very lucky as my husband is enthusiastic  too, AND he can saw straight.  The photo of the man sitting outside the front door, elsewhere on the photo gallery, was made for me by my son when he was 6. I didn'thave a "man" doll ( they were hard to find in 1951) so Mr Manda was away at sea. Bob came home, clutching this doll for me, and so Mr Manda is retired now, and nurses his baby grandaughter.

I think ivory would not be so welcoming to me either as the cruelty to the animals is a factor. Yes they are expensive pieces I will have to start saving

I am glad its bone rather than ivory. Its just so lovely. If I win the lottery maybe I will get a piece one day.

It looks a lovely house - much better than the one I got when I was 6, but it started the collecting bug whickh has never stopped! I found this site just over a year ago and have had a lot of fun and have learnt quite a bit too.
I hope you will soon post some pictures of your houses, especially the first one.
