Dolls' Houses Past & Present

About Me

I began my love of miniatures as a child and collected little kiddles in the 1960's.  The smaller, the better!!!  When I was 12 years old my mother purchased a wonder silber and fleming dollhouse with all the furniture in a box.  The pieces were the most wonderful soft metal german pieces.  This furniture was in many pieces since it was so old and not tended to so over the next 35 years I restored and worked on this find.  I am still working on the project!!.  I will post pictures soon.   In may 2011 I purchased another silber and fleming at an auction in Maine and am looking forward to furnishing and repairing some minor item on this wonderful house.

I can't post on forum, so am doing my comment this way. I have a box back and the windows were originally fixed in with old fashioned brown parcel tape neatly round the glass on the inside of the door, The wallpaper came just up to the edges of the glass.

Hi Linda,I tried to reply on the forum to your suggestions but it wouldn't accept it for some reason!I do agree with you about the hinges.I might have some old ones somewhere,or I will look in car boot sales or my dads shed.I only need 2 so it shouldn't be a problem.I'm going to try cleaning the windows again and doubt that I will replace them as it would look to clear and shiny. If I did replace them I would probably use glass.
I am working on replica vintage food at the moment as I have some orders so I have to ignore the house for now! I sell the food to help afford the dolls house hobby,I started when my hubby bought me an antique house and couldn't afford the antique food so I copied some from pictures,it looks so much better than modern food.I have an album on here if you are curious.I have never got round to putting them on the for sale page!

Joan I am working on a profile photo. I have to look deep to find a pic of me. I will send in the next day or so. I thank you so much for welcoming me to the site and i fully agree on the wonderful papers that an original house has to offer, it is so important. Do you agree on the hinge comment I made? I love the old and original and I cannot get it out of my system!!

Hi Linda, welcome to the site and thank you for your comments.
I hadn't seen a house like this before either, which is one reason I bought it,the other reson was the lovely papers. Our cottage is rapidly turning in to a dolls house museum!
I am a bit if a technophobe too,but it is very easy to do the photos on to the site once you have a go.I'll keep a look out for your album. Also, PLEASE can we have a profile photo,I do like to see who I am talking to!!!!
