Dolls' Houses Past & Present

About Me

I was born and brought up in Kenya, leaving when I was eleven.  I now live in Buckinghamshire with my husband, a standard poodle puppy and a tabby cat.  My passion for miniatures started when I was about 4 years old and Dad made me a beautiful dolls house with the help of Mum to do all the decorating. I always loved to make things for the dolls house, particularly sewing, knitting or stitching items for it. A few years ago I rescued the house from the attic and my passion started all over again!

Thanks a lot for your comments, Sarah. I'm now getting my house ready for Christmas, so hoping to post more pictures soon. Nice to meet you.

Hi Sarah, welcome to the site and thank you for being a contributor - so many people look but don't comment, for many reasons, but it's great hear other views. This is a great place for indulging in a second childhood amongst like-minded people. I hope you get as much enjoyment from it as I do!

Hi, again, Sarah. There is nothing wrong with this fabulous hobby - so take no notice of people accusing you of spending too much time on it. There are people (potential critics) who probably spend every available second on facebook. I don't go on facebook at all but recognise that for many it is a way of sharing. I only joined this website very recently myself and the pleasure of seeing the fabulous artistry and talents of these members (as well as providing a fascinating insight into the historical context of dolls houses and miniatures generally) has provided me with a lot of personal enjoyment and satisfaction. Enjoy your hobby, Sarah - and ignore those who lack the insight that we share on this website.
