Dolls' Houses Past & Present

About Me

My name is Christine but I'm known as Dollyknickers.  I'm a retired seamstress, meaning I've retired from sewing for humans but now sew and create little worlds for dolls, all kinds of dolls.   I'm a wife of 33 years, a mother of two grown daughters and have an adorable, almost 13 year old grandson.  My husband and I live in our dream home (finally) in Battle Ground, Washington, USA.  I have a full studio apartment above our garages that is all mine and full of what I love to do.  It is my playhouse, with lots of dolls and toys and fabric.

When I retired from my sewing business, which I specialized in sewing for hard to fit bodies... most everyone fits that description in my opinion!  Hahaha  I had about 30 regular clients but after 35 years I just got tired of dealing with people so I decided to quit sewing.  One of my clients asked me if I would do one more job for her, to sew some doll clothes for a granddaughter's birthday. I hadn't made doll clothes since my girls were little and I didn't even own a doll!  I agreed and found a Barbie doll at Goodwill, made up some patterns and sewed a lovely wardrobe.  My client was so happy and inisisted that I should make doll clothes as my new business.  That was about 10 years ago and now my life revolves around dolls.  I have a website where I offer my line of clothing.  I am open for sales 4 times a year for one week.  January 1, 2015 starts the new year off for my Dollyknickers site.

You can find me on many social sites, Facebook, Flicker, Pinterest, Twitter and a few others just by putting Dollyknickers in your Google search.  There's only one Dollyknickers!  Me!!

"Dollyknickers" came about because of the lack of underware on Barbie dolls and my girls were appauled by that so I made a lot of undies for their dolls.  My husband is English and calls unmentionables 'knickers'.  Dollyknickers was born!

Aside from sewing, I love all needle art but have a special fondness for knitting.  I knit miniature using 000 to 00000 size needles to make sweaters, hats, scarves, mittens, socks and so much more as I love to challenge myself.
