Make-over attempt
Okay, this probably would have looked much better if I hadn't made a close-up!! I tried to make the old couple look like an elderly couple and from a distance it doesn't look bad at all. The picture however shows all the flaws. Ouch!! It wasn't wise to start practicing this on a 1:16 scale :)

Maybe I used the wrong words?
Please bare in mind that I am Dutch.
I could be mistaken: I thought that elderly meant younger than old.

You do so well with English, Kitty! However, "elderly" and "old" mean the same. This couple would be called "middle aged". Exactly how that is defined does vary, but it used to be around 45-60 years. I suspect most people would put both the lower and upper limits higher these days!

ELDERLY!!! Roll these young people in!!!!!His head is a bit big but if I were a Grecon maiden I might be bowled off my lead feet. And Iwouldn't mind looking like her if I was ancient (which I am) Not quite my style but certainly youthful old.

This has given them so much more character - well done, Kitty! I've used acrylic paint "make-up" and "hair dye" on lots of my 1:16 dolls to change their appearance. The first were 25 years ago, when I knocked a generation off the Lundby grandparents from 1992, turning them into the much younger couple who live with their six children in my 1900 workers cottage.

We agree, scale wise they aren't the best but I prefer them more than the Lundby dolls.
