oh, dear! i should have gone through the whole album before replying! lol but i'd still like a description! what is it made of?


It's ivory, probably Chinese and 1920s (Quing Dynasty). It has a flat back and might have been intended for a brooch, but the carving goes round the sides, showing more details of the buildings. Three men are sitting at the table in the foreground. I have a feeling this might be a common motif known as 'Three Scholars'
