I'm going to dissent, and say that this is a proof-of-the-pudding situation. In order to create such beautiful scenes, your talent is a given!

Your reproduction of the elaborate work on the dress is excellent.

I'm now hiding under my desk to type this ;)

More than kind, but I've no partic talent, just lots of time and a reasonable eye (as it were).

I use paintings and images a lot for ideas and 'mood' - I find they give me 'an itch' if you'll excuse the phrase. I use them either to try to copy bits or for set dressing or just as a jump off point for an idea.
I was looking at the German deco furniture in the Dec issue of mag and had a sudden strong urge to try to repro my Aunt's house and furnishings from when I was a child. I've put it on the back burner for now to stew over a long while or until it fades - but I reckon that the images in the mag have caused a hole in my space time continuum and at some point I'm just going to have to do it. That's what happened with van Eyck - it just boiled over. ;)

Wow! What a wonderful album. Thank you for introducing me to the amazing 15th century Arnolfini Portrait and for posting photos of your stunning recreation of the scene. What talent!

She certainly looks past child-bearing. Time must have passed....

Ah, yes. Hopefully not the same people as in the painting as about 150 yrs plus have passed in this imaginary world into which I retreat. I used the same style dress/drapes as I fancied driving myself potty trying to do the ruffle. It's just the same room without a makeover. I do hope someone has washed the bed curtains though since 1434! :)

These people are so beautiful - did you make them, or were they commissioned? I really do admire such skill.
