No 55 1958-67. Dimensions: 26 inches [65 cm] wide, 12 inches [30.5 cm] deep and 21 inches [52.5 cm] high.
This model number was used previously, 1928-33, for the second largest of the Mayflowers, which may be seen in pictures 94-96 in Volume 2. The house shown here can be dated precisely to 1963, because that was the first year in which these transfers were used on the metal-fronted models, but it was also the last year before the sliding fronts, plastic roofs and plastic front doors were introduced. Interestingly, this is the style of "laburnum" tree which normally appears on the smaller Nos 40 and 45. The taller version of the tree is usually seen on the Nos 50, 55 and 65. (Please see picture 15, previously, for an example of the style of tree shown here in its usual position on a No 40, and picture 23, subsequently, where the taller version of the tree, usually used on the No 55, may be seen on a No 65).
