With her grey hair, she could be Mrs Betty Higden, the old lady who becomes an itinerant pedlar in order to avoid the workhouse, in Dickens' "Our Mutual Friend".

She is gorgeous Lily. I really like pedlar dolls. I made one for my late ma-in-law about 40 years ago from a dolly peg. The tray was about 2" x 1". I didn't get her back after Nanny passed on. Wonder where that doll is now!!
