Your right there Chris...I furnished the apartment on such a low budget, the only new things in it are the sitting room rug, a beanbag and the mattress ! Ha Ha...I figure, not only have vintage stuff stood the test of time as far as looks go, but they've lasted this long, so they'll see me out, even the kettle is the late 60 issue of the Russell Hobbs K2 ! Still going strong, cost me about the same as a decent plastic jug kettle, which wouldn';t last that long ..

G plan Nathan and Stag all brilliant quality furniture, which will last a lifetime, you just can't get the same quality now, not unless you have a fortune in the bank lol.

Took me a while to find these as every one I found was just too,,,'rough'..and Nan and Grandad had very good taste, they believed in buying the 'best' as anything 'cheap' was 'false economy'...I think generally speaking they were right, that mantra has stayed with me all my life and I'd rather do without than say 'That'll do'...Nan and Grandad had virtually the same stuff right to the day Nan died, so it certainly lasted well, and as most was 'classic' design the house always looked lovely, warm and homely, and they must have saved a fortune in the long run. Our apartment is mostly 70s teak, G Plan etc with 'modern' bits thrown in from Ikea, and I havce no intention of ever changing it again, so their mantra really did stick with me eh ! Ha Ha,,,
