Dining Room Update
The lady of the house is in the dining room where she needs to set the table for dinner but she is busy chastising the dog for pestering puss again (of course puss started it as usual but she doesn't know that).

I have just noticed the mirror with the candle holders - very nice indeed.

Thanks, Rosemary, after I got it I saw the same one in an old copy of IDHN and it is apparently by Babette Schweizer.

The border is perfect and your chairs and carpet go brilliantly with the walls.

The oriental cabinet with the cork sculpture in it was a charity shop find, Julie. It cost about £3 I seem to remember and I was really chuffed because I had been admiring one in Jennifer's house not long before.

I love this little doll and the dog! She stands well and I love her dress, face and hair. The dog makes me smile with his sticky-up tail and sweet little bow, he has a lovely sleek and shiny coat too!

yes, she is a lovely doll. I can see why you like her.

The border looks great - and I love the mix of scales and ages in this room.

Thanks, Patty. I only put the border on today. I got it from Poppet on eBid and it is tacky waxed to the white gap above the wallpaper. This was my least favourite paper when I got the house but I think the border lifts it a bit and being, as you say, understated, it is much easier to put things with than the other papers, especially the parlour paper!

A naughty cat, this time!

There are so many lovely pieces in this room, Zoe! The oriental cabinet, piano, fireplace, clock and mirror with sconces are particularly fine. The subtle colours in the chair seats and backs, and the rug, are perfect with this wallpaper. Great to see the Lundby lamp sneaking in - it looks perfectly at home.

What happened to your gorgeous sideboard, though? I've already looked and it's not in the parlour, either.

Thanks, Julie. My Japanned cabinet was in here until a couple of weeks ago when I decided it wasn't in keeping with the older, chunkier furniture. It needs a new home now - i feel a room box coming on but not for a while!

I hadn't noticed that lovely border around the top of the room before. I really like this paper, it's understated but looks marvellous.
