I think the fabric is a butter muslin. It is lovely and soft and fine.

He is German I love the way the material of his gown falls. In fact I think all the dolls are German. Tynietoy made a peg, wooden doll which is very valuable but doesn't evoke the feelings these dolls do. Most Americans used German dolls in the early 1900's.
