They embraced and he gestured to the two cocktails he had placed
on the small walnut table. "My dear", he began, "It is truly wonderful to have you home so unexpectedly for the May holiday - but I am afraid that I have to tell you some news that I know will not please you..." here he paused and racked his brains as to the best way to deliver his bad news.

That's made out of old 1920's? beaded fringing on a modern stand. I have used this method quite a few times to produce something looking old at an affordable cost

Oh no,.. still gives us a chance to see this lovely room. Particularly like the beaded lampshade.
