It was nice to be home again and surrounded by the
lovely things that Basil had collected over the years. Really, the worst problem apart from his rather paternal attitude towards her, since she was considerably younger than himself, was Leticia and the rest of his family. If they stayed away in their Stockbroker House in the far off Surrey Hills, she felt that she could cope with life here in the big mansion, as long as she had a few "jobs" to do, to become her other self sometimes.

Gorgeous flatbacks.

It's not just Leticia though is it? It's his whole attitude to her, including the nanny thing. He needs to let her be a proper mother to the children and say hang both Leticia and the 'status' thing. It's a bit Princess Diana-ish isn't it with the family all looking down on Susannah? At least Diana did seem to get her way more where the children were concerned but I do hope Basil doesn't have a Camilla hanging about in the wings.
