The two girls struggled to roll the large hay bale off ....what?  Who could it be to have met their death in this lovely stable?
Lindsay, her ever active mind still dreaming of books and things that she had read, was immediately put in mind of Maria Marten, murdered most foully in the Red Barn in Suffolk over a hundred years ago. Who could have wished such a terrible thing to happen to someone in Greconville?She pulled her head out of the past and into the terrible present. "Whatever shall we do?" she said shakily.
