The van Eyck Arnolfini bedroom scene
The bed, only the edge of which you see in the painting. I've closed off the room so that gives only the sort of view you get in the painting but you can only view the bed thro one of the windows or the door

Oh yes, I can imagine. And who knows what has got itself hidden under this bed now I can't get my hand in there ;)

Gosh, that's dedication to detail! I know that I have dozens of things in my dolls house which can't be seen at all, because they're in drawers or cupboards, but I get immense pleasure out of knowing they're there!

This must be 1/12th as I bought the same bed about a month ago and that is the scale. Is the high backed chair by the same maker?

I've a sneaking suspicion that it's a Peartree Miniatures chair from quite some time ago. It came in a batch of furniture being auctioned off on you know where. I've put it on a small rostrum here to get the height difference in the painting between the two chairs

Gorgeous bed. Love the linen fold carving. What scale are you in??

It's 1:12 and the bed was another eBay miracle - I think it had missing slats
