Most of my older dolls' house things are fairly low-brow, but over time a few less ordinary things have come my way. I built "Delville" to house them together; the name is taken from a large Georgian mansion in the part of Dublin I grew up in - the house was demolished in 1950 and the idea of the vanished house fascinated me as a child. Its most famous inhabitant was Mrs. Delany, whose botanical collages are now in the British Museum. I hope she won't mind me using the name of her house for something much more modest that doesn't even attempt to look Georgian!
