Now that Zillah, Cyril and Leticia had gone, Basil had set to, to woo Suzannah all over again!
8
He would whirl her around and around until she felt quite dizzy, especially after those strong Gin and tonics he would mix her.
5
One night, after Basil had gone up to bed and was fast asleep, Suzannah crept downstairs again.
7
She had already collected items that she thought that might need, binoculars, a magnifying glass, maps, cameras -
10
Fully aware that Suzannah was acting completely out of her usual characte, Basil had taken the precaution to hide her passport in one of the washstands.
8
The next day, Suzannah set off to ask Paul Temple's advice.
4
As she arrived, she heard bathwater running down the pipes and hoped that she had not called at an inconvenient moment, but she rang the bell never the less
5
Steve and Paul were delighted to see her.
5
Then they had a big surprise!
5
Fran went upstairs to do her teeth before they set out.
4
As they were going home, the twins spotted the Toy Shop!
8
The children who were coming out certainly seemed to have found some lovely toys in there.
8
And came out with the most delightful miniature farm.
10
When they arrived home. they found a flustered Oscar trying to measure up for new curtains in the library.
9
"Come on, we must take a look" said Marianne and they set to.
4
Soon the floor was covered with fences, cows, pigs, sheep
4
In fact Thomas was brooding upstairs in the Drawing Room.
4
Suzannah's search eventually took her to the washstand, and, as she opened the door, her passport fell out onto the floor!
2
She straighted up and looked him straight in the eye and said very firmly
5
Basil could scarcely believe his ears. Suzannah was a changed woman -
6
Strangely enough, ever since Marianne had cast aside her dressing gown, things had started to go wrong in Greconville.
10
Somehow this room hasn't quite "got" it yet - they will have to beg, borrow or steal another table and try it out.
10
This is the one room that they are happy with - very happy.
9
"Such a relief that Mr Trumpet is in jail" said Norah, eyeing the shiny door knob with distaste.
3
Having perused their dictionaries, when they next met, the air was blue with nouns.
19
Back at Charleston, such things as carpets or nouns were far from Vanessa's mind as, in Grace's absence, she struggled to produce the marmalade that Roger Fry both desired and demanded.
3
Whilst the marmalade was being labelled and Roger anticipated an excellent breakfast on Sunday, there was complete consternation at Goddards.
9
Mrs MacKitterick, accompanied by just one of her puppies, relayed the bombshell news to some of the other Scotties who were lounging around, enjoying the late autumn sunshine.
7
But help was at hand.
8
In two shakes of a dog's tail they were off down the street with the canine pack.
6
As they passed Merlyns, they were taken aback by a scarlet cushion flying out of the front door
4
Naturally the reason for the petulantly thrown cushion was Oscar and Bryan......
8
Bryan groaned inwardly. He hated sewing and Oscar knew it.
10
Norah was finishing making the bed in one of the main bedrooms.
5
The girls arrived at Bill and Heather's house. Bill, accompanied by Ros opened the door and -
3
Bill turned back into the house. He was sorry that he hadn't been able to help but they had a lot of dogs already.
5
Uostairs, Heather was discussing her autumn wardrobe with her dressmaker,
9
A Pyjama Party was raving in the bathroom.
