My husband made this house for when I was first ill. I had always remembered a house my 2 sisters & myself had between us when I was 4 years old, all the china dolls, beautiful lights, & furniture my mum bought second hand. This was my interpretation of it as I remember it, my sisters? interpretations are different, but I was tiny so it probably looked large.
As I?m severely chemically sensitive I used non toxic no odour paints & used mostly antique papers, I also collected antique furniture. Originally I put Biedermeier & Schneegas furniture in it but have changed these & sold some.
All the dolls are antique apart from the nurse in the hall, all had new clothes as they had no original clothes on. A lot of the ornaments are also antique, have taken quite a lot out as was hoping to buy an original house to put them in. Ones I did look at had too much work, one had worm... so still on the back burner...
My husband made all the paneling, painstakingly put the bricks and tiles, made the bay windows, all as authentic as he could without using chemicals...
I love this house & it will be passed down, as we have 3 generations of girls who love it also.
Still bits in loft to finish as sold some bits.
