JenLea dolls house

Isobel Hockey emailed photos of this dolls house, which she bought because of its label - a JenLea Product. She hadn't heard of JenLea, and neither had I. I have found that a company called JenLea Ltd was based in Eastbourne, in East Sussex, from 1959 - 1965. They appear in phone directories as just 'manufacturers', and also as 'Kitchen Furniture Manufacturer'. Their addresses were 1a Mark Lane, and Carrarra Wharf, Lottbridge Drove, both in Eastbourne. The company was voluntarily liquidated in March 1965 - the company director who published the notices of liquidation was one R. L. Dove. Although we can't be absolutely sure, it does seem likely that this firm of kitchen manufacturers also tried their hand at making dolls houses, though probably not many, in the short life of the firm. This house has similarities to Gee Bee, Pennine and Conway Valley dolls houses, and without the label, we'd probably be wondering if it was made by one of those companies. Thank goodness the label survived - and thank you, Isobel, for buying and photographing the house!
