Dolls' Houses Past & Present

A website and ezine about dolls' houses: antique, vintage and modern. Plus furniture and accessories.

Triang No. 50

Triang made these houses from 1948 to 1971. Julie Hardy's very helpful comments have confirmed my feeling that it is an early version, from 1950 or the very early 1950s. It has a card roof, a front doorstep, a tin front door and a sponge-painted "creeper" on the ground-floor facade. It is missing its Triang label and the wooden chimney which should be at the centre of the roof. The house is made of hardboard with a hinged tin front with wooden reinforcements. It is in 1/16th scale. The thinly painted hardboard walls have been papered with antique German wallpaper samples and the house furnished with antique and vintage German and English furniture. The dolls are German, from the 1930s to ca.1950.
