Mr & Mrs Norman Barton have won the lottery and bought a country cottage for weekends.

The welcome Spring sunshine has persuaded Norman to vist the cottage for the week end.

Mrs Norman wants him to get on with some gardeniing but Norman prefers to laze in the sunshine.

Mrs Norman suggested a game of croquet but Norman decided that they should drop in at The Dyer's Arms and meet up with old friends.

An hour later, Dickie , Mary and Georgia came trudging in from exploring the countryside only to find that they were locked out.

It was quite late when the Bartons got to the pub and nearly everyone had left

apart from Wee Hamish and Henry who were eyeing the empties gloomily.

So exciting, they have bought a photograph of the cottage taken from the air.

Mrs Norman did enjoy these breaks at the cottage - it was nice to get away from Greconville sometimes. It was always rife with gossip and innuendoes.

She especially loved the dining room fireplace - there had been one in the house that she had been brought up in as a child and she had fond recollections of that period of her life.

The rooms were nearly always sunny and bright at the cottage, no brick papers to fade on the exterior.

It always seemed so cosy here. Scaled down, one might say. Less reaching and stretching for a Grecon.

Dickie, Mary and friends were plotting some new adventure in the nursery.
