This picture is from the ebay listing https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188096042 188096042 After I received them.. I took the tacky cheapo 'silk' seats off and cut up an old vintage purse to get an effect closer to Nans chairs. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188096043 188096043 Dolls House Emporium Nan's Wedgwood https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188096044 188096044 Won on ebay Gorgeous vintage set of real glass drinking glasses and jug https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188096045 188096045 Won on ebay FAB Lloyd Loom bedroom set, the detail is amazing, I'm dead pleased with it, woven rug from Dolls House Emporium, real original photograph of Nan and Grandad on their wedding day. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188096046 188096046 Won on ebay Close up of Bohemian glassware set https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188096047 188096047 Won on ebay Tiny real glass drinking glass, gorgeous detail https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188096048 188096048 Won on ebay Detail of glasssware https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188096049 188096049 Nan's Card Table My Grandparents card table was kept in the dining room, and when not in use was 'slotted' down the side of the large radio, and the wall..This one was from Jane Harrop, and was 9.00 ! https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188311387 188311387 Nan's Card Table Folded card table. Jane Harrop, for anyone who has not visited her site or bought from her yet..sells kits with all components you need (apart from varnish, paint, glue)and full photo illustrated instructions. The prices are very reasonable indeed. This was the first one of her kits I have made, and I'm very pleased with the result. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188311388 188311388 Nan's Card Table The back of the card table, showing legs folded up. I did get a bit muddled with the instructions and there are a few glue marks on the legs etc. But that's just me ! Ha Ha...I just need to tidy it up a bit, which won't take long. And as we all know, women always read instructions, whereas us men seem to think we can just steam in there and don't need the instructions ! Ha Ha..Clearly we do ! Ha Ha... https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188311389 188311389 Nan's Card Table Legs folded into place. The detail of this really simple and easy to make model is fantastic. Apart from the actual building of the kit, all I had to do was sand the ends of the legs, at both ends, to make them rounded, sandpaper was supplied, and took just a couple of minutes max to do all four. Then varnish all components.I did notice that the top warped a bit when I applied the varnish, as the wood is thin, but was flat again when dry, so no need to worry about that at all. Tiny brass pins are supplied to fix the legs together etc, and the baize is self adhesive and quick and easy to add. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188311390 188311390 Nan's Card Table Completed card table, exactly the same as Nan's. The kit even comes with two sets on tiny playing cards, printed on satin card, you just need a craft knife and steel rule to cut them out, the card sheets have markings, so that you can position the rule in the correct place for cutting out the cards to exactly the same size. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188311391 188311391 Nan's Card Table You can stain the table parts and buff up with some kitchen towel as recommended in the instructions, But I already had a tin of satin walnut varnish, so used that. Nan's table was a dark colour stained/varnished wood, so this was the perfect shade to use and the finished item looks just like Nans card table shrunk down to 1/12 scale. I'd highly recommend Jane Harrops kits, delivery is quick, and the are fun to make, and cost so much less than quality finished products, but are , I believe as good a quality. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188311392 188311392 Jane Harrop Kit My next 'project' is this FABBY Jane Harrop kitchen cabinet. Which I've been putting off making for ages now, as there's lots of bits and instructions, well for me anyway ! Ha Ha...But as I made the card table with little trouble this week, it gave me the confidence to tackle this.BUT...it's not 'quite' like the one Nan had, sooooooooooooooo......... https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188385768 188385768 'Pimp my Cabinet' Here is the result of a lot of tweaking to get it almost identical to Nan's kitchen cabinet...Believe me it took all last night and all today to get this far ! Ha Ha...But I'm over the moon with it so far..This really shows that if, like me, your not confident enough to make something from scratch, or have tried and just can't get angles etc right, these kits can be customised to suit, it really, really helped me having the kit to start with. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188385769 188385769 Behind The Green Drawer The drawers and drop down counter door with their first coat of gloss on. Nan's cabinet was this colour green, on all the doors, and the frame was white. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188385770 188385770 USA finds Here are the tree finds so far from the USA, via ebay...Wonderful fine detail, but really good value, would have cost far more in my experience if I could have sourced them in the UK.Chair covers are not original, I replaced the original ''cheapo silk' with these covers made from cutting up a vintage woven purse. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188970929 188970929 USA finds Furniture 'savers' and real fine paper doilys, amazing detail, just so intricate ! https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188970930 188970930 USA finds Can't wait to get the furniture to put these on ! https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188970931 188970931 USA finds Nan gave me doilys and coloured pencils as a pass time, I'd sit for hours at the dining room table, colouring them in very carefully...a very cheap but effective way of keeping the kids quiet ! Ha Ha... https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188970932 188970932 USA finds Great detail on the bedroom chairs for my bedroom at Nan's. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=188970933 188970933 Dolls House Emporium I bought this cute little tea set from Dolls House Emporium along with the other sale items I bought in this album..Nan didn't have a set like this but I just love the 1930s 'Deco' feel it has, so just had to have it, it cost next to nothing, but I think it looks a million dollars and fits so well in Nan's dining room. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=189403605 189403605 Dolls House Emporium Detail of FAB deco look tea set https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=189403606 189403606 Dolls House Emporium I find a lot of Dolls House Emporium a bit 'basic' for my taste, but would never discount them as they do so many lovely items and are well worth looking at, the often have sales, usually specials every month, and gorgeous items like this tea set can be bought at huge discount, so it's well worth a monthly look. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=189403607 189403607 1930s Door Mat I won this on ebay, can't for the life of me remember when, before Christmas sometime ! It's so well made, out of oily smelling string, just like the real thing ! https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=189403608 189403608 1930s Door Mat Detail of the Door Mat, exceptionally well made to perfect detail, another one of those 'Must Have' buys, and I can't wait to see it finally in place when the porch and front door are completed, but I will have to wait a while for that ! Ha Ha... https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=189403609 189403609 Groceries Probably the tiniest things in anyones dolls house are those essentials that fill every cupboard and drawer, to make the opening of them so exciting and 'real' ! This is a selection of the groceries that were always staples in Nan's kitchen cabinet. Oh the memories. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=189463361 189463361 Groceries Cabbage and blocks of ice cream were some of the items found in the larder. The ice cream was either served in bowls as a pudding after lunch or dinner, usually with tinned fruit cocktail, or cut into smaller blocks and sandwiched between wafers for eating rather like a choc-ice. Brillo pads were used to clean pans if needed, and Fairy Snow washing powder for the weekly wash, leaving the most amazing and comforting homely old fashioned soapy smell on the pure white cotton sheets on my bed. https://www.dollshousespastandpresent.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=189463362 189463362 Groceries Sweets ! Only one of these would have been the treat for the weekend, apart from the fruit jellies, which we only ever had at Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed. Most sweets were either packed straight into their boxes, or in waxed paper bags inside the box. Bournville chocolate was my favourite and felt like the poshest of treats to me, to this day I still prefer dark chocolate to milk of white, although that being said, just give me chocolate and I'm putty in your hands !
