I want to see some pics of the Triang no.91 but the site won`t let me use search, looking forward to the new site

Hi Carol,

I have been away, so have only just seen this. Sadly, the Search function on the site hasn't worked for a long time. Examples of the No 91 may be seen on site at:

Oh dear, when I saw a new post I thought it was announcing the launch date at last. How depressing.

The admins are as keen - nay, desperate! - as everyone else for the new site to be launched, but remember that we are volunteers, and our lives include surgery, bereavements, professions/businesses and family commitments, too, and these can occur or change without warning.

We really want the new site to be as good as it possibly can be at launch, so we're trying to identify and have corrected anything which looks likely to make it less user-friendly than it might be, before it goes live, but this does take time, and the best-laid plans...

There will be another delay. In the last month or so, your administrators have been beset - sometimes unexpectedly - by our real lives impinging on the time we've had available to test the various parts of the new site. The developers have also had summer holidays and personnel changes, which have interrupted the work on their side.

This isn't to say that we have been idle! Zoe had a site meeting at Purple Creative Studios a week ago, and has another one today. She believes that there isn't a lot more to do on the actual development - as issues and glitches have been identified they have been remedied - so she's pushing PCS for a live launch by the end of September. She should have a further update for us after today's meeting. Once the site is in its final form, the admins will then need a few weeks to upload new content - making going live at the end of September a more realistic achievable target.

Just to follow up on Brooksey’s message earlier today, I had a good meeting again this afternoon at Purple Creative Studios and things are definitely falling into place now. There’s not much I can add to what Brooksey has already said, except to confirm that I will keep pressing for an end of September launch. I have another meeting with Purple Creative Studios next Wednesday afternoon, after which point it’s hoped that Admin will be in a position to start loading the content Brooksey mentions.

What might be called 'snagging' websites/software can be a repetitive and dreary job that comes around and around and you still don't know if anything has been overlooked until it's live so back it has to go again - repeat etc .  You guys doing this have my fullest sympathy, I can tell you ;)

Batten down the hatches and get out the rubber dinghy in this weather and all the very best to everyone - really looking forward to the day whenever it arrives that we can chat again

Thank you, Do and Rosemary. Don't forget that all the admins have been involved in testing the development - the time differences between us is another factor in how quickly, collectively, we can respond to anything from PCS. We are poised at the starting blocks now, though, awaiting Zoe's firing of the pistol, ready to start uploading from this site to the new. My adrenaline levels must be off the scale in anticipation!

There's a new blogpost up - hopefully this is the last one that will have to be in the wrong place with the wrong sort of link!  Much looking forward to the new site....

Lovely blog, Cestina. Always nice to hear what’s going on in Small Worlds - I suspect I’d find it much changed if I had a return visit.

Just to keep you in the loop, things are progressing well and PCS is as committed as we are to a 30th September launch, though Do hit the nail on the head when she wrote: “What might be called 'snagging' websites/software can be a repetitive and dreary job that comes around and around and you still don't know if anything has been overlooked until it's live so back it has to go again - repeat etc.”

Anyway, the starting pistol Brooksey mentions above has been fired and, in conjunction with the continued ‘snagging’, we are now busy transferring chunks of information over from the old site so that we have a decent starting point at launch. The transfer of photographs will, however, be a mammoth task and we’ll be appealing for help from you with that in the coming months.  We might not be able to transfer all of the magazine back issues over before the launch but we will do what we can and best of all, we are planning to have a new issue ready too.

Fingers crossed everyone!

Yikes and tally ho!  More power to all your computing elbows and please remember to get sleep, food and above all as many breaks with a little exercise as you can possibly manage - keep smiling:P

Many thanks to all the administrators who have been involved with the creation and setting up of the new DHP&P website, am quite sure the wait for the new website will have been worthwhile! Good luck with it all, I can appreciate it has been a huge undertaking.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I have tried umpteen times to start a new thread on this website, to no avail. But I just wanted to tell everyone about our unique and rather special VINTAGE & ARTISAN DOLLS HOUSE FAIR that is being held on Saturday 12th October at the Thame Barns Centre, which is set in the heart of the historic Oxfordshire market town of Thame. There will be up to 21 fabulous miniaturist artisans and antique/vintage dolls house traders with some amazing miniatures for you to purchase. Among the stand holders are some members of this forum - Liza of Cider House Books and Trevor of Dolls House Restoration, plus of course KT Miniatures. As organiser, KT Miniatures, is donating 50% of all profit made from running this event to the charity CRY(Cardiac Risk in the Young), plus there will be a charity raffle too. A vintage style tea room will offer refreshments throughout the day and the caterer has pledged to give 10% of any profit made on the day to CRY. For more information see:http://ktminiatures.com/vintage-and-artisan-dolls-house-fair/ Hope lots of you can come, it should be quite a gathering and a fun day!

Thank you, Celia, for your kind words! We're beavering away behind the scenes adding content to the new site.

Thank you, too, for publicising this fair. I would have loved to come, but the rail journey involves four trains, these days, plus the bus, and would take over four hours, so I'll have to decline, sadly.

Once again am posting blog update link in totally inappropriate place but it's the only one that seems to work!

Hopefully nearer and nearer draws the time.....when I can put it where it properly belongs ie beneath my signature!

LATEST UPDATE: I wish I was able to say that we’re launching our new site on Monday but I’m afraid there is going to be a further small delay as we continue to finalise a few little bits and pieces. Frustrating for all of us but we really are nearly there. A HUGE amount of content has now been transferred over to the new site, by hand, by the Admins and by Phil at Purple Creative Studios, but there is still a little more to do, plus our developers still have a few little final adjustments to make and test.

Thank you so much for your continued support and patience. With fair winds and following seas, we will be launching on Monday 14th October!

Thank you for your encouragement, Do! Yes, we have had some 'life' - it's partly the fact that we and the developers have had holidays which has led to some of the delay, because, obviously, they were all taken at different times.

Is there any way for us to download our own photos, as I have lost a lot of mine due to me being silly and not backing them up when my computor died.
