Perhaps not a precipitous moment to start annoying people.
Maybe "I saw you coming" or "There's one born every minute" would do; he had seen such fantasies on shops in Hampstead with outrageous prices upon their goods. But best tread carefully, he had sensed a hostility within the village upon his arrival. These feudal places possibly held a witch or two, up at the Old People's Home at Knaresbro' Lodge, he'd put a small bet on that Edith, in her stained black taffeta dress being one. Wasn't she Oscar's mother? Best err on the side of caution for the time being. Just then, he saw someone coming. Three people in fact. He rubbed his hands in eager anticipation.

There are very few TVs in Greconville - in fact this may be only the third.
Zoe - yes the c of d has little spindly legs - came from a "boutique" in Surrey!

Now, there, you see? A COLOUR television Cedric! You are not likely to find an antique version of that, are you? I'm sure there will be many an elderly Grecon who would just love to share his or her home with such an item!

Rosemary says...
Cedric, for all his airs and graces, has had little education - his father used to sell nylons from a suitcase in the East End whilst Cedric stayed at home to "help Mummy" and it is from this early visiting of her hair salon that he developed his love of "being a blonde" who supposedly "have more fun".

This background to Cedric makes him even a bit likeable Rosemary :-)

Does he mean auspicious? Has Greconville acquired its very own Mr. Malaprop?
