Tri-ang Dolls Houses Database, Vol. 2, 1930 - 1941Sign In or Register to add photos
This Album features Lines Bros' Tri-ang Dolls Houses, which were in production from 1930 until 1941, excluding No 80 (1933-40), Nos 81 and 82 (both 1933-34), the No 1 shop (1932-35), Peggy Lines' own dolls house from the early 1930s (which was not produced commercially), and the Princess models (1932-57). These 1930s models have been included in Volume 1 because, stylistically, they have more in common with the houses from the 1920s than those from the 1930s. Please see Volume 1 for all the other models produced between 1919 and 1930. Manufacture of all Tri-ang toys was suspended from 1941 until 1946, owing to WWII. Production resumed in 1946 and continued until the firm went into liquidation in 1971. Those models from 1946-1971 which were new designs, may be seen in Volume 3. (Pre-war models which resumed production in 1946 are not included in Vol 3). Members are invited to add pictures of Tri-ang houses to the appropriate Volume. They can be uploaded directly by members, whose details will then appear in the captions, or pictures can be emailed to site administrator Brooksey for uploading. (In the first instance, please contact Brooksey via her Profile page). These three volumes will help members or site visitors with identifying Tri-ang houses, and with restoration queries. For this database, the pictures for any one house should be limited to one exterior and one interior shot. Further photos, showing more detail, should be posted in a separate Album and viewers guided to that Album in the captions to the database entries. The houses are (almost always) listed in order of their first appearance in a Lines Bros'/Tri-ang catalogue. Exceptions are houses such as the Princess 2, which follows the entry for the Princess, despite not having been produced until five years later. This has been done to keep all the versions of similar houses together. Following the listing of the houses, there is a section at the end of each Album for details from Tri-ang houses which may also help collectors with dating or restoration. Enormous thanks are due to Marion Osborne, for her invaluable work in researching and cataloguing Lines Bros' Tri-ang houses, and whose book, "The Book of Tri-ang Dolls' Houses 1919-1971" is a constant source of reference when editing this Album. Please contact Brooksey with any further information on Tri-ang houses for this database. Correction of inaccuracies in already posted database captions is welcome!
